Home$ense is Golden Valley Electric Association's electrical energy efficiency program. It is offered to all residential members.

A trained energy efficiency specialist will travel to your home and explain ways you can reduce electrical usage without sacrificing comfort and will install energy efficient products at no additional cost.

During a Home$ense audit, participants receive:

In addition, if the house has a 220-volt hard-wired electric water heater, participants may also receive:

NOTE: The auditor is the final decision maker of what number of devices are installed and whether or not a device can be installed (For example, an inaccessible water heater or uninstallable shower head). All products Home$ense products must be installed at the time of the audit.

Installation of all electrical energy saving devices is included in the Home$ense audit, as well as educational materials.

The Home$ense audit is provided two ways:

  1. A stand-alone Home$ense audit takes one to two hours and costs $40.
  2. Home$ense is provided free with the Low-Income Weatherization Assistance Program. To qualify, call the local weatherization provider at 452-5323 or (800) 478-5323 for more information.

Does participation in Home$ense affect participation in other Energy$ense programs?

No, but in no case will GVEA pay incentives for a single eligible measure installation more than once.
